| Frequently Asked Questions |
Who was Peyton Anderson and what is the Peyton Anderson Foundation? ► Peyton Tooke Anderson, Jr., was born in Macon in 1907. While he was growing up, he worked at the family-owned newspapers The Macon Telegraph and The Macon News. In the late 1940's, he bought back the papers after they had been sold. When Mr. Anderson died on April 24, 1988, he directed in his will that the bulk of his estate was to be used broadly for charitable purposes. Mr. Anderson's longtime, dedicated involvement in the Middle Georgia area led to his desire to respond to charitable needs in his own hometown and region. The Peyton Anderson Foundation today carries out these wishes and serves as a lasting memorial to a man whose goodwill lives on long after him.
What is the Foundation's philosophy on working with organizations that are in the startup phase? ► One time start-up funding is considered. The Peyton Anderson Foundation prefers to work with organizations that have developed a strategic plan, demonstrate strong fund-raising/financial management support, work toward self-sustainment, and partner with other organizations. Startup organizations duplicating services of established organizations in Middle Georgia will not be considered favorably.

Do you fund projects outside of Bibb County, Georgia? ► Priority will be given to the award of grants that will be expended in, and are for the benefit of, Macon and Bibb County, Georgia. What are the foundation's deadlines? ► The cutoff dates for submitting grant applications are April 1st and August 1st. Applications may be submitted at any time during the year and are processed (but not necessarily acted upon) in the order in which received.
