Peyton Anderson Foundation |
The Peyton Anderson Foundation, which was formed to handle the broad distribution of the estate of Peyton Tooke Anderson, Jr., is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the communities of Macon, Bibb County, and Middle Georgia.
How We Support Our Community
Since its inception in 1989, the Peyton Anderson Foundation has invested more than $60,000,000 in the Middle Georgia community. Through organizations like the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, Macon State College, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Goodwill Industries, the Foundation has touched the lives of thousands of Middle Georgians.
Over the last twenty years, the Peyton Anderson Foundation has initiated several projects to meet the needs of the community. The Community Foundation of Central Georgia was one of the first and NewTown Macon has also been one of the Foundation’s most successful initiatives. They were created to revitalize and restore downtown Macon.
The Foundation also reacts to requests for funding from not-for-profit organizations. Priority is given to organizations having a substantial presence in Macon and Bibb County, Georgia. The Foundation’s funds have promoted the arts through the Douglass Theatre, Grand Opera House and Cox Capital Theatre, supported disaster relief through the Red Cross, fed the hungry through Loaves and Fishes, and fostered the education and wellbeing of children through Aunt Maggie’s Kitchen Table.
In recognition of the Foundation’s 20th anniversary, the Peyton Anderson Scholars program was formed. In its first year, the scholarship program awarded college scholarships to 15 highly promising Bibb County students with financial need, including 3 homeless students and several students with single mothers.
How to Get Support
Qualified organizations can request funds from the Peyton Anderson Foundation by completing a grant application, and submitting it along with the requested supporting documents to the President at 577 Mulberry Street, Suite 830, Macon, Ga 31201. The trustees of the Foundation meet twice a year, in July and November, to review the requests and grant funding.
